JLR Ingenium Timing Chains – Brentwood

The Ingenium engine family, found across a wide range of Jaguar and Land Rover models, is a capable and modern unit, but timing chain wear is a known issue on a number of variants, particularly earlier examples. Left unaddressed, a worn or stretched timing chain can cause serious engine damage. It’s one of the more significant repairs in the JLR world, and one that requires genuine expertise to carry out properly.

Which vehicles are affected?

Ingenium engines are fitted to a broad range of Jaguar and Land Rover models produced from around 2015 onwards, including:

• Jaguar XE, XF, F-Pace, and E-Pace
• Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque
• Range Rover Velar

Not all Ingenium engines are equally affected, but if your vehicle is exhibiting symptoms, it’s important to have it assessed promptly.

• Engine management warning light, particularly with timing-related fault codes
